Optometrist recommendations?

I need to take a kid to get contacts. We’ve always gone to Dr. Paul King in Henderson Center, but he’s not a Healthy Families provider, so now I need to choose between:

SEARS OPTICAL
ZUZANA GELLNER
DANIEL J RYAN
PAUL DOMANCHUK

Recommendations?

(And, yes, I know I haven’t blogged in what feels like months. Busy hanging on at the Eye and keeping a foot in the door at the Journal, as well as the usual KSLG commute – and following AHS softball and Babe Ruth’s started up and Nick’s insulin pump is here and the German student’s arriving this month, plus all the Surfrider fun, work and travel… Too busy living life to write about it, I guess. Miss writing, though. Miss surfing, too. Hope to do both very, very soon.)

  1. I have a friend who’s been going to Paul Domanchuk for years and really likes him, but I’ve no first-hand knowledge. If you find someone good, let us know, eh? 🙂

  2. We’ve used Dr. Lori McFarlan in McKinleyville for many years…started seeing her when she was at Sears back in the early 90’s before she and her husband opened their own practice. Great doc, very attentive, lots of experience, and I’m pretty sure she accepts Healthy Families. Can’t recommend her highly enough.

  3. Glo just got fitted for contacts with Domanchuk. She chose him because she can walk to his office but really liked him. He used himself as a model to show her how to install the lenses. Only complaint: He could use a visit from “Pimp My Office” to update the shag and wooden furniture. Not bad praise from a 17-year-old.
