Tom Perrota, “Little Children”

Reading quite a bit lately. Just finished Tom Perrota’s “Little Children.” I’ve been wanting to read it for years – loved “Election,” both movie and book. It was good, but not as good as I wanted it to be. The characters’ individual stories unfolded too easily, plot devices popped up too often. Or maybe I read it too quickly, skimming when I should’ve savored; that’s always a danger on my schedule. But a story about people reacting to suburban and parental ennui should better capture the drama that happens when one tries to break free.
